MOON EYES

The Meeting:

The concrete pavement was deserted, hard and cold. She walked on this very pavement. She knew it. She'd seen it...Felt it, a hundred times, in her dreams. The familiar, warm light, from the lantern hung above on the poles flooded sections of the pavement with circular patches of orange light
She could hear even the rustle of her coat, which she now hugged to her chest. She felt cold, a cold she never had felt before. She walked forward her muffled footfalls amplified by the chill and emptiness around her.
She glanced at the road. Empty. A fear clung to her heart,a fear she never felt before, reasons unknown.
She walked.Faster.
A faint growl sounded from somewhere behind her.She didn't dare look back. She knew, only too well, what would happen....Scared now, she almost ran, trying to find her way out from this seemingly never-ending platform.
She stopped short in her tracks, shocked when she heard the growl from ahead of her. Somehow, she knew this would happen, but she was still surprised...Shocked at her own feelings on seeing the massive creature in front of her.She stood, rooted, staring , wide-eyed at the dark, unlit part of the pavement, unable to meet that intense gaze.
He was there. Right there. She knew. She saw him in her dreams, did she not?
She wished this were a dream too...but she knew it was too vivid to be a dream. She knew, there was no turning back once she was captured by his gaze.
He sat there, silently with his back to her on the pavement, before her. She felt cold, like the cold from the uneven platform was seeping into her through her bare legs. She had tried running away from him, even in her dreams. She tried, now..but somehow, she knew it was inevitable...the things that would happen,soon...She'd not stop now, She took a step, tentatively towards his massive form. He growled.
She opened her mouth to talk, her throat ran too dry. Before she could muster her courage and try again, He turned, just a fraction of an inch towards her.His one gleaming yellow eye focusing on hers...She stood, struck by the beauty, the depth of the countless emotions running under those pair of eyes.
He merely looked into her eyes, until a wry smile touched her parched lips. She knew it. It happened. The countless times she saw it all in her repetitive dreams came true,She knew not,why..She walked towards him, steps now confident. She was so close, she could now feel the warmth off his body. She then took him in her arms, feeling his heart beat and his fur on her face. He felt nice.Despite herself, her fear of his kind, She knew she loved him.
When She released him, He merely got up and walked away into the darkness, without a look back towards the heart he had just captured.

She stood, smiling.
Somehow she felt, she wouldn't see Him again...
Her dreams told her that was false.
She Knew She'd See Him Again.
